A suprising museum filled with artifacts and photographs that paint a picture of the Platte River Valley as the true pathway for the Westward Expansion. The main building houses period rooms depicting daily life around the turn of the century, glassware, quilt collection, archives and library for research, artists gallery, and gift shop.You will also see: the 1917 McCabe Baby Biplane, built in Lexington; a restored 1903 Baldwin Steam Locomotive; an 1880s Union Pacific Depot; a 15,000-year-old Columbian Mommoth, under restoration; an art gallery with new shows each month; an automotive display; an extensive Oregon Trail Exhibit; an 1888 one-room schoolhouse; a large agricultural equipment display; and much more on spacious grounds by a peaceful lake.
